cool movesThe Pflugerville Police Department’s summer safety campaign "Cool Moves" takes place in the summer, encouraging our city’s youth to be safe while outdoors.

From now through August 31, children "caught" practicing safety by a Pflugerville Police Officer will be given a ticket, thanking them for being safe. Attached to this ticket will be a coupon for free ice cream redeemable at one of our local participating restaurants.

Each summer Pflugerville Officers give out over 500 tickets for free ice cream to safety-conscious children. While these interactions are fun, they’re also important safety lessons, and Pflugerville police officers are working to participate in this program safely by wearing masks and maintaining a safe social distance.

Examples of “Cool Moves” are:

  • Wearing a helmet while riding a bike, scooter, skateboard or rollerblades
  • Crossing at a crosswalk
  • Obeying traffic laws and using correct hand signals while riding a bike
  • Stopping at the curb to look both ways before crossing the street
